Multi Samples & the EXS24: Apple Logic Pro

This is Bill Macpherson for Expert Village. Okay we are going to continue talking about the EXS24. This time we are going to create a new one with instrument editor. Hit new. Now this time we are going to do it a little bit differently. This time we are going to create a sample with multiple sounds. Now a good example of this would be drums because you have your base drum, your snare, your high hats, symbols, toms. So we are going to go into zone and we are going to choose load multiple samples. Now you can see in this folder, I have drum, snare. I am going to select some of these and bring them in. Bring in a high hat, maybe a tom, cowbell, low tom. Hit add and you can see it has a whole list of them right here. You can remove them if you like, add more. When you are done, hit done. We are going to set this up as continuous zones. Hit okay and now you can see that it is set up, 6 different zones for us. Each one containing its own audio file. There's zone 2 where the snare is and you can see up here this is where the notes are played. So this first one would be the kick, c1; a snare is c sharp 1 and so on. So I am going to hit save and we are going to name it. All right, drums. Now we can close that window. We already have an audio instrument up. Bring that back up. Now this time we are going to choose my drums from the list. Now when you go to your keyboard, you will be able to hear your samples that you brought in with different notes and that is how you use multi samples in the EXS24 in Logic Pro. I'm Bill Macpherson for Expert Village.
