Using Gain Controls on Guitar Amps to Get that Rock & Roll Sound
Hi my name is Tim Ambrosuis and I am a professional guitar technician for Expert Village.com. I just want to explain to you what the gain control on your amplifier is. What your gain control does it controls the amount of distortion that comes out of your guitar and out of your amplifier. This is your clean sound and this is going to be your distortion sound with gain on it. You have a rock and roll sound. Now with the gain down really low you are going to a really light distortion and the more you add to it the more crunchier it is going to get and more break up it is going to have. Now you can turn it up all the way and get a real thick heavy distorted sound. Generally people aren’t going to turn it up all the way but sometimes they do. It is going to be right around the 3:00 mark when it is hooked up.
