How To Use Nuts in a Gift Basket

Hi, I'm Rachel Fish from Incredible Edibles for Expert Village. So now the next step is we're going to put in our nuts. There are lots of nuts that we can choose from. There are fancier nuts. There are plainer nuts. And again as we are going with an elegant basket we have to put in something that is going to be appropriate. I would not put in sunflower seeds. They are just not appropriate for a fancy type of basket an elegant type of basket. These over here are coated peanuts and although they are very good they are a little bit spicy. You also have to be careful in case their are allergies peanut allergies. You have to check with the person who is ordering. If you know who you are sending it to, if you know there are any allergies you don't want any problems. So what I am going to choose today is to put in cashews. They are a very good tasting nut. They are a high quality nut. I'm going to take them and I'm going to put them in over here next to the chocolates. Part of what we have to be careful with the cashews though is that sometimes you will find lets say and open cashew. This is not going to look very nice in a basket. We are going to make sure to take those out and not use them. See here is another one. But the rest of them we put in and as we are putting them in we make sure there aren't any that are open, that the rest of them look nice. We put them as close to the chocolates as we can, which again it's going to help hold the chocolates in place and it’s going to already bring color to the chocolates. I didn't use a dark colored nut such as an almond over here because an almond next to the raisin is just going to make it look dull and make it look bland. Same thing. I wouldn't use lets say coated pecans even though they are very delicious and they are elegant it's just going to look like rows that are mushed together. You are not going to be able to tell what's what. So over here the cashew's as I'm taking out the ones that are not whole. The cashews give a nice color next to the raisins. It's going to help hold them into place and the recipient will definitely love all of these delicious cashews.
