How to Auto Create Drums in Apple Logic Pro

This is Bill Macpherson for Expert Village. Okay in this first clip, we are going to create a looping drum track and we are going to do that with our auto create track. So the first thing we want to do is select our first track and we are going to make it an audio instrument, audio instrument 1 and for the instrument we are going to choose EXS24 which is a very powerful sampler. Has some preset sounds in there. We are going to choose a drum kit. We are going to bring up the Hip Hop Kick. It will take a moment to load, close that window. Make sure is record and able. You should be able to hear it when you hit your keyboard. Okay so what we want to do is we want to set up auto create. So we need to go to file, song settings and recording. Another easy way to get to that is right on top of your record button. Just click and hold and also brings up a menu and you can bring up the record window. Now here you want to select auto create tracks in cycle record and make sure that auto mute in cycle record is off. You also want to make sure that the merge is also off. Close that window. Now we want to set up a 2 measure loop here. Now if you go up in your time line and just click and drag, how many measures you like and over here, is a loop button. You click that will turn it on or off. You want it on. Now it is set up the loop and when we hit record what is going to happen, is it will create a new track every time it loops through the 2 measures.
