Bread Plate Etiquette & Table Manners
Hello I am Elena from the International Etiquette Center in Hollywood, Florida. Let’s continue with our table etiquette, our bread which is going to be on a small plate on the left hand side is going to be eaten by first breaking it. You will take a small piece of bread, if you would like at that time to butter, the butter will then go on. What happens sometimes when you sit at a fancy table like this with many, many table settings is that someone by mistake might take your bread plate thinking that that belongs to her or him. If that ever happens to you please do not mention it just put your bread on your plate and when the wait staff comes by ask them for another bread plate. You never want to embarrass other people because they have made a mistake. When you finish with your butter if it is wrapped in something like this, the best thing to do is to tuck the little wrapping under the bread plate. If you do not have a bread plate you would tuck it under your regular plate.
