Preparing for a Mist Tan

Hi! My name is Sarah Darley with Sun Studios on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to prepare for your mist tan. The first you're going to want to do is one the day of your mist tan, if you can do it right before the mist is better, but at least the day of take a shower and exfoliate really well in the shower. Shave. Do anything you would have to do that's going to be removing dry or dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin since that's the layer of skin that's going to absorb the mist. I would recommend using a very strong exfoliator and just scrub really good in the shower. Do it as the last step in the shower so that you don't have any residue on. Before you do that, if you do use a soap, make sure that you're not using a bar soap. The difference between a bar soap and a liquid soap is that the bar soaps are more alkaline and your skin is slightly acidic, so using a bar soap is going alkaline, which in turn will make your mist on react different to your skin and make it appear more orange than brown, and you don't want that. When using the soap just make sure that you're using a liquid soap before you use the exfoliator. Then use the exfoliator to remove all the soap residue, dead skin. Anything from shaving or shampoo that might have washed out on your body. Then when you get out of the shower, make sure that you don't put on any lotion or heavy makeup right before you come in. If you do put it on, you're just going to have to remove it again anyways. I would recommend just not putting on lotion, heavy make up on your face, extra deodorant, anything that's oil based, anything that's going to block the solution from being able to seep into your skin.
