What is Mist On Tanning?

Hi! My name is Sarah Darley with Sun Studios on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip, we're going to be talking about what spray tan is. What a spray tan is a process that you go through where fine mist is applied to the body. The mist contains a bronzer, a DHA, and a moisturizer. What those things do is that the bronzer applies a cosmetic color to the skin, which is the color you will see initially when you get a spray tan. The DHA is the color that makes the long lasting tan that will show up over time. The moisturizer is to keep your skin soft. There's a couple of different types of spray tans you can get. You can get an air brushed tan, which is applied with a person with an airbrush machine sitting an applying it to your body. The other type is a booth that you would stand in and the booth automates and sprays onto your body. Usually it takes about 5 minutes for a booth spray tan, and that's with dressing and undressing. With an airbrush tan, it will take longer because you would have a professional sitting and spraying you, so it would probably take 15-20 minutes to get that done. There are a few reasons why you might want to get a spray tan done. A lot of people have paler skin and don't tan very easily. Getting a spray tan gives you an instant color without having to wait to develop a base tan and move on from there. Another reason would be in you had an event. A lot of people when they have proms or a wedding or pictures getting taken because it's immediate color. You're getting right a way and you don't have to wait like you would when you're getting a regular tan. You would have to come tanning for a couple of months to build up a base tan a good dark tan. You get that in just seconds of going in the mist on booth.
