Hi I'm Joyce Danielson for Expert Village. General purpose laundry detergent work well on most washable fabrics. Hand washing detergents can be used for laundry when cleaning fine fabrics these products are often affective when using cold water. Remember that not all hand washing detergent all milder then regular laundry products. Even though they maybe often more expensive. Today we are going to test hand washing detergents and you can use this method to test any other detergents. First dissolve the recommend amount in a quart of cold water. Allow the detergent and water to sit for 24 hours, not the residue if any in the bottom of the quart jar. This residue may be difficult to rinse out or your garment especially wool garments, sweaters, satin, or any luxuries or foreign fabrics. While most machines have a delicate cycle these items are often washed by hands or dry cleaned.
