Your first basic step is gonna be a pirouette. It's a turn that's mostly used in jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern, even hip-hop. So today we're gonna add some flavor to our pirouette and make it more jazz funk. So first, a basic pirouette, you're gonna step out to the right if you're going to the right side. You're gonna step behind you. Be in a nice, deep plie. Your back foot is gonna be up on relive' and there should be no weight on it. You should be able to pick it up and there's no weight on it. You're gonna be down, you're gonna sit so that you can pop right up and you wanna pop up so that you can be up in your turn. And also, another very important part about pirouette - any turn, is spotting, is your spot. So you can spot the wall, you can spot whatever's directly where you wanna end up. So you step out, step behind, plie, rise up. Ok? So let's try it with the turn. You're gonna step out, step behind and turn. Ok? So that's more of the jazz flavor. We're gonna add some funk to it, so we're gonna go out, in, down, turn, turn, jump out. Ok? To add some hip-hop to the end of that, we're jump out and you're gonna pelvic up, roll up and double it up. Ok? Let's put that all together. Step out, step back, turn, jump and hit, hit, hit, hit. And that's your basic pirouette with some jazz funk added to it.
