I'm doing a demonstration for Expert Village painting 101. The first step and most important step in painting is the preparation. Here what we are doing is taping off the molding where you don't want to paint. What they do when they are painting with the roller is the temptation to go and paint all the way up to the tape line when you really shouldn't do that because what happens is the more paint you put on the tape, you create a seal so that when you pull the tape back, you wind up pulling the paint and messing up a lot of good work. So you really want to paint to about an 1/4 of inch away from your tape line and then finish that part with the brush. You also want to use smooth easy strokes and be careful not to over paint your preparation line.
