Basic Wrestling Moves
We are going to start off talking about some basic wrestling moves to get you started from neutral. Neutral is just another word for standing up. Sometimes refs do this right here, neutral; you get it, standing up. It's one wrestler here, it's red and green, you will put one foot on the tape and what you want your stance to be. You are going to stand like this and have a friend push you back and whatever foot you step back with that should be your foot that is behind you always in your stance. That is your stable, your support, you're used to that. What you want to do, with me, when someone pushes me back my right leg goes back. It's just natural. You're used to it. That's a good way to have it instead of just choosing a leg. You want to bring it and whatever leg you come back with that is your back leg. What you want to do once you find that out; whichever your lead leg is you're going to have it right. You want your toe to be even with the mid heel. Like right here. Your toe, if you had an imaginary line from your toe to here; that's where it should be. Right here this is what it should look like. Your toe should always be facing your opponent, always. You should always have your toes, like, looking your opponent right in the eye, eye, ready; this right here. You want to have a nice little squat. You don't want to be down too low because then somebody could just, you know; if you're too low. You want a nice little stance right here. Be light on your feet. You might even want to, it's a nice little work out right here, just stay right here. Sitting on the imaginary toilet just chill, read a paper or whatever you want to do right here. You want the toes right there at the heel. You want your elbows in, elbows in. They're touching me. You don't want your elbows out. We're not winging it. Elbows in they're right here. You can just practice it right here. Go around in a circle. This is a nice little exercise. You can feel it right here. It looks easy, but it gets hard trust me. That little butt stretch we did earlier is going to come in handy right here. Just work on your stance. Just form your style. Everybody has a different style to throw their opponent off. Just stay right here. Just move around in a circle. Just get your stance down. Keep your elbows in. Change levels right here. Your changing levels, but you still want to keep that toe. This is your base right here; your toe to your heel. You want to just form your own style like me. I like to move around a little bit, but you just want to stay. Keep that heel right there at the toe. Keep your elbows in. Keep your back straight. A lot of people like to arch their back like this. That's not good. You want to keep your back straight like this. Notice how my back still stays straight and I'm still right here. I've still got my weight behind me. You always want your weight, your hips right here. Your hips should always be underneath you. Always in everything you do. Your hips, in everything in wrestling; this is your power right here. This is where all your power comes from. Your hips when your coming into something, you're using your hips, you explode, your hips are always underneath you. I'm getting ahead of myself.
