How to Check Flat Tire Damage

Hi! I'm Jeff Wong for Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to change a flat tire. You want to access the damage that you occurred on your tire and know whether you need to replace the tire or the tire can be repaired by a simple patch. As you can see the puncture on this tire, is along the sidewall of the tire. The sidewall damage is very difficult to repair so this tire may need to be replaced. If the puncture happens to be along the tread of the tire, this is usually able to be patched up. This can be done at your local tire shop or even gas station. At this point you may not want to remove any objects that punctured your tire. Because if you do so, it may make it difficult to find the spot where the damaged incurred and make it difficult to repair it so I would leave any objects in there until the person repairing the tire has located the damage.
