Hi! I'm Jeff Wong with Expert Village. Today we are going to learn how to change a flat tire. Now that the vehicle is lowered, the lug nuts are ready to be tightened. It is important to tighten the lug nuts in the correct order as to distribute the pressure evenly along the wheel. So to tighten the six lug wheel, you will tighten the lug nuts in a diaganol fashion; tightening the lug nuts that are directly across from one another. In a five lug pattern, you will tighten the lug nuts in a star and in a 4 lug pattern, you will tighten the lug nuts diagonally. I recommend tightening all the lug nuts twice to make sure that they are properly seated. Using your body weight and pressing down on the tire iron will ensure that the lug nuts are secure. At this time, I am not going to replace the center cap because this is a spare tire and I plan to change it soon.
