Skirt Movements in Traditional Mexican Dance

Hi! My name Aleli, Aleli Montano. We're talking about Mexican folkorico dance on behalf of Expert Village. We are talking about the skirt that's used for Mexican folkorico dance. I have just put this on. This is actually a performance skirt. Usually skirts that are used for Mexican folkorico dance they are tight in the back, and you want to make sure that it's really, really tight. Why? Because the skirt tends to, you know it could be a little bit heavy and you're moving it a lot, so you want to make sure it's really tight and it's not going to fall. Now, the skirt ideally and for any company that does Mexican folkorico dance in a professional way, the skirts will be really big in terms that you can have your arms fully extended to the sides. That would be your ideal mark for a skirt that you would want to use. Once again, if you're starting, if you're a beginner, if you want to do this for fun, which is really, really fun I encourage you to try it. Just make sure you just have a skirt that you can actually move on and that it has some weight into it and if you turn, it keeps moving. It's really fun, you should try it.
