Hi! My name is Aleli Montano and we're talking about Mexican folkorico dance. We're going to talk about our feet and the footwork that is needed. The basic step really is about heel and toe, heel and toe. That will be for both feet, heel, and toe. With our character shoes that's very helpful. Rather than we'll be barefoot or with flat shoes. For women, we do need to have a heel on. That's very important. Once again, we said it was heel, toe, heel, toe. Some of the basics steps could be what we call single waltz or paso sencillo. One more thing, it's flat as well. So heel, toe, flat, heel, toe, flat. Flat is just letting your foot come down onto the floor. The single step will be flat, we're going to the right, flat, flat, so that's like a waltz. 1, 1, 2, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3. The double waltz will be 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3. So single will be 1, 1, 2, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, double, 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1,2, 1, 2, 3. Also, we could use figure 8s. It's pretty much how you move along the floor. A figure 8 would be just walking around making a figure 8 with your feet. You could also do it with your flat foot. Figure 8 with your flat foot, or with our heels using your toes as well. Alternating between your heels and your toes. Those are the basic footstep work for Mexican folkorico dance.
