The next concept that we're going to cover is Tondu. Tondu means to stretch. You can do Tondu from first position or fifth position. Let's start from first today. Tondu has three movements. You start with a demi point where your toes are still on the ground, and stretch all the way through the foot back to the demi, and using the toes to pull back in, back to close. If you're going to the side, you're going along with your hip socket, the demi point, the full point, the demi point, and back squeezing your thighs together you're going to the arabesque line. Your foot goes directly behind your head, demi, to the full tondu, demi to the the close and then en croix. It means like a cross. You go front, side, back, and back to the side, to the demi, the full point, the demi, and the close. So that's Tondu. Its works in the advanced movements of stretching your legs, turns into a jump, it can turn into a grand battement, or a lope. So that's why we practice Tondu at the barre.
