Fondue Step in Advanced Ballet Dancing

The next step we're going to learn is fondue. Fondue means to melt. It's good for warming up the legs, the bottom leg is in plie' and also for coordinating both legs together and the arm movements. Start in coupe' which means cut...the toe is touching the ankle and you plie' and both knees straighten at the same time. The arm also arrives at the side at the same time. Then, plie' fondue to a 45 degree angle...just about 45 and then bring it up all the way to a 90...everything arriving at the same time and closing. It would go again to - la seconde - to the floor, everything straightening at the same time...45...and again everything at the 90 degree. This repeats to the back. Take the arm Arabesque looking right over your fingers to the 45 degree and all the way to the 90 and close.
