How to Use a Color Guard Rifle

So this is called a riffle so it is alike what military use riffle in training in the military corps to do you know just to do military training and things like this but here in color guard world what we do is we kind of just play with it and make it look pretty. We dance with it a lot and we spin it so it is a completely different thing just not as we do toss and spins but it is not as discipline as the real military corps. So the first basic thing you want to learn with a riffle is the name of it so riffle and this part is called the neck this little skinny part and you want to hold it so it is palm facing up and the tip of it is called the nose so you want to kind of cover the nose out. You want to hold it and keep it a good distance from you and squeeze it really tight with your elbows out and when you do a drop spin you just want to let it go and bring, bring it back around. So use a little tiny flick, you briefly let it go and you kind of spin it so this is 1,2,3, it is hard to do it slow so you might want to just spinning it. Make sure you keep your free hand, your left hand down at your side while I'm spinning it. Don't look at it to much you just want to keep your head facing straight ahead and we stop it you want to bring it down and you want to grab at the end of your riffle with your palm facing down and your left hand is towards the beginning of the buckle right here. So again if you want to do 8 of them you start with your nose and neck and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and those are drop spins. So now you learned right hand spins now we are going to do lefts. It is the same thing your right hand is at the nose and your left hand is at the neck with your palm facing up. So you want to kind of let go and regrab it at the bottom. So you drop your free hand and keep it at your side 1,2,3,4, you just want to keep spinning it and squeeze it really firmly so if it starts wobbling a lot that means that you are not squeezing it tight. So you just want to keep it at your belly button distance and don't hit yourself hopefully and when you stop it 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 so you want to grab it so your left hand is at the end and your right hand is buckle part and those are left hand spins.
