Hi! This is Drew Finn for Expert Village. Today we are going to talk about how to use and maintain a chain saw. Now other features on this older one, we've just got a guard here to protect your hand. On a Husky some of the newer ones has a kickback guard. So if it kicks back, this thing locks. It locks the blades, shuts everything down. So you have to make sure it is off when you are actually running. For safe starting, a lot of manufacturer's recommend you lock the blade first and then fire it up. When you are ready to go, you snap it back and then the blades loose. So that is basically how you start a saw safely. Never ever, if you are going along, I don't want you starting it like some people start a chain saw like that. Very dangerous. You could cut your leg wide open with the starting it that way. You should always have it on the ground when you are starting it.
