How To Predict The Rain

Hello I'm weather announcer Melissa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village today we're going to be talking about the weather. In this clip let's talk about precipitation everybody wants to know when is it going to rain but you have to keep in mind that precipitation comes in many different forms. Not just in the form in rainfall that's probably the most popular but it depends what type of season or what season your doing your forecasting, and of course if it's the winter it's not going to be rain, it's going to be snow. If it's in the spring or summer well would it rain but if could also come down in the form of hail stones in the summer when you get a severe thunderstorm for instance. So we're not always talking about the rain but on the radar map when you do see severe weather of course thunderstorms they do show up on the radar imagery. Not only in green you usually but when you do have a severe thunderstorm you'll see colors of yellow, red, or orange showing the severity of the these storms but that leaves precipitation is near so when your talking about precipitation of course you want to be looking at not only your satellite imagery but also your radar maps as well.
