Hello I'm weather announcer Melissa Schenk and on behalf of Expert Village today we're going to be talking about the weather. In this clip let's talk about wind for a moment wind is a very important factor when your talking about temperature as we just disgust in an earlier segment on temperature but, when your discussing the wind and you are doing your own forecasting or future casting and your reading the various modules on the computers you'll see something called isobars. I don't know if your familiar with isobars but what they basically are a line of constant pressure. So if you see them from these maps you see these lines that are forming towards sort of a circle or there lines of constant pressure, so if you see isobars that are really close together it means that there's a great deal amount of wind. If the isobars are wider apart then less wind of course you see usually when there's a low pressure system you see the isobars really tighten close together. A high pressure system there a bit more wide spread out the winds are lighter the sun is shining, there's less cloud cover outside so it's a little bit on isobars but there's so much when your talking about wind there's so much to take into consideration. The wind speed if it's the winter is there a wind chill and then of course we talked slightly about isobars so when your talking about the wind of course too, what direction is the wind coming from, the North, South, West, the East. If your getting a southerly flow of air of wind moving up from the south usually that is to do with a range of high pressure and a southerly flow of air usually indicates temperatures are going to be on the rise.
