How the King Moves in Chess

Hi I'm Jitin Tuli on behalf of expertvillage.com and now I'm going to tell you about how the king moves in capture. The king can move one square in any direction. The king can also capture a opponents piece if it is one of those squares. As you move a of course the opening is not defending this pieces. The king can never move onto a square that the opponent controls. Doing so would move the king into a check. The first example in illustrates how the king moves. It can move to any square as shown here. In the second example the king to move to any of the squares of capture the black rook cause the rook is on the square and it is undefended.
