Getting Started with Cheerleading

Hi! I'm Katelyn and I'm Nicole We're from Expert Village and we're professional cheerleaders. After cheerleading for 4 years, we are now the captains of our squad. Today we're going to teach you how to become a cheerleader. We're going to go over stunting, tumbling, jumps, how to get your crowd ready for the pep rally, what to do in try outs time, how to get started to even become a cheerleader, your motions and angles, how to be sharp and ready, what stretches you need to do. Cheerleading is a great way to get involved in you school. It's a great sport to bond with other girls, to learn new things, to stay out of trouble, and to be just be great all around. It helps your self-esteem, it helps building blocks when you get older in life and as you grow as a young women. It's just great for all ages. Let's begin. Before you even start practice, you're going to want to make sure that you're in the proper clothing. You're going to want be in athletic shoes, athletic clothing, you're going to want to be in clothing that's able to move in so you can do your jumps and all your tumblings or things like that you won't get cramped. You're going to want to have your hair up in maybe in a pony tail or back, however you think to keep it out of your face. You're going to have short nails on. No acrylics really because that can get scratched don't like that either. Another thing is that you're going to want to make sure that all of your jewelry is out. Any piercings in your ears, in your nose, or anywhere else, you're going to want to make sure they're all out because when you stunt and do all of your cheerleading activities, they could get caught and get ripped out. That could be very, very dangerous. The first step in cheerleading is to have safety. Safety is our number one priority as a cheerleader. Also to get started, you want to make sure that everything is stretched out, your arms and muscles, so let's get started.
