Choosing Ski Goggles

Hi! This is Dave Smith with Hillcrest Ski and Sports in Gresham, Oregon on behalf of Expert Village. In this tutorial, we will cover beginning skiing. In this clip, we'll cover how to pick an appropriate goggle and lens tint. Visibility is very important while you're skiing at the mountain. You face many conditions where you need to protect yourself from the elements. A goggle will keep wind and snow and potentially ice out of your eyes and allow you to see well. When you're picking a goggle, it's important to pick a goggle that has dual lens, which will help with venting so you don't get foggy lenses. It's also important to pick a lens tint that's going to match the light conditions that you face at the mountain. There are several lens tints that are offered in goggles that are better suited to certain light conditions. This particular lens tint is an amber tint. It's the most versatile of any of the lens tints you'll find. It works fairly well in low light and also in bright conditions. This goggle has a yellow lens. It's best suited to low light conditions such as an overcast day or night scheme. A clear lens would also give you the effect as this yellow lens. This goggle has a very dark lens. It's best suited to bright conditions where the sun is out. Goggle companies offer many lens tints, but the general principal is the darker the lens, the better suited it is to bright conditions. The lighter the lens, the more it's suited to low light conditions such as overcast days or night scheme.
