Jambo, that means hello and you'll definitely want to know that if you're traveling to Africa. My name is Melissa Schenk on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk about some things that you'll want to know before traveling to Africa and also how to survive in the African Wilderness. In this clip let's talk about some of the facilities that might be available to you at the bush camps. It depends how far back into the African Wilderness you're going to venture out on your own or with someone. Bush camps are a great idea, you get out into the wilderness but you are protected you might say by the people around you and your surroundings. Now, I'm sure you're not expecting a 5 star hotel by any means and lush accommodation's but don't expect a hot shower when you're there. If they even do have showers they will be cold, they're not going to be hooked up to heating supplies but what they will provide you with is a bucket shower, a hot shower. So they'll heat the water up for you, give you a bucket kind of like those barrels you would fill up gas in. They'll put hot water in it and then you can give yourself a bucket bath basically or a bucket shower. Depending where you are especially bush camps they'll help you prepare your food. So if you're heading out on a mountain biking journey through the day, they'll provide you with some light snacks and some food of the land but they are well prepared. So bush camps is a really good thing to think about. The one thing too is when traveling to Africa and especially in the wilderness you can only pack so much. So you have to be really smart about what you're going to take. Are you going to take a tent? Are you going to sleep under the stars? A lot of people don't maybe like to sleep under the stars because of things like mosquito bites and Malaria, so you'll want to take a smaller tent or sleeping bag. What are you going to use for a pillow? These are all things you'll want to think about. Your own towels, they don't provide that to you and usually there are no laundry facilities out there. A lot of people will wash their clothes out in the water out there or have different buckets available that you can make your own clothes line kind of thing. I guess it depends too how long you're going to be there and how many clothes you can take with you. It's all a reality that you have to face when packing. The facilities are modest at bush camps but again even if you can get some hot water for a shower it's certainly does make you feel a whole lot better.
