Jambo, that means hello and you'll definitely want to know that if you're traveling to Africa. My name is Melissa Schenk on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk about some things that you'll want to know before traveling to Africa and also how to survive in the African Wilderness. In this clip let's talk about avoiding predators. If you are going to be living in the African Wilderness you have to come to the reality that there are wild animals all around you especially at night. A lot of the animals like to come out at dawn and at dusk but especially too when you're sleeping in the evening. So if you're in certain areas this is the one reason why I recommend bringing more than one person with you especially in the African Wilderness. If you're sleeping at night especially where there are lions around you need to sleep in shifts. Somebody needs to be listening at all times, this is a very serious things to keep in mind. You don't want to be woken up to a lion licking your face, not a good idea. Another thing to do how to avoid predators; one-keep your eyes open, look for paw prints, look for prints in the sand or in the mud or in the grass depending where you are. If you're really, really in towards the bush you can see where things have been torn up, where trees have been ripped up or any sort of action that has taken place too. Finally one key element is look for animal, it would be elephant dung or any kind of animal feces as not so nice as it is it's really important to keep your eyes open for that because it gives you a really good idea of what kind of animals are out there and around you and how long it's been there. So were they recently there or was that something that's a little old and out of date, but definite I highly recommend if you're in the African Wilderness you definitely want to sleep in shifts at night especially if you're only with like 1 or 2 people and you don't know your area all that well.
