Jambo, that means hello and you'll definitely want to know that if you're traveling to Africa. My name is Melissa Schenk on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk about some things you'll want to know before traveling to Africa and also how to survive in the African wilderness. Now I can't stress enough the importance of taking a first aid and a medical kit with you. It's so important and of course you want to take everything that would come in a first aid kit. So, gloves, the scissors, tweezers, gauze, bandages. But some things that when traveling to Africa that you might not think about: one I hate to say it but many people do get it when they go to Africa because of the change in diet, travelers diarrhea. So you'll want to take some kind of anti diarrheal medication with you. Some other important things of course anti Malaria pills and we'll talk about vaccinations in upcoming clips. It's very important to have those pills with you because they're lots of diseases and things that you're not acceptable to here in say North America, but in Africa Malaria is very widespread and very common. When you haven't been exposed to it you can get very, very sick from that. Lastly something to keep in mind is anticipated hand wipes, they're always good to have with you, but also oral re-hydration salt. Very important because it can definitely save lives over there, if you let's say if you are especially in the African wilderness and you need some sort of re-hydration especially if you're doing something like mountain biking or rock climbing and you get dehydrated, these are really, really good thing to have. If you don't use them and you're on your way back home to North America leave them for someone in Africa because like I said they can really save a life.
