Introduction to Surviving in the African Wilderness

Jambo, that means hello and you'll definitely want to know that if you're traveling to Africa. My name is Melissa Schenk on behalf of Expert Village. Today we're going to talk about some things you'll want to know before traveling to Africa and also how to survive in the African Wilderness. So before traveling to Africa, I wanted to give you a little bit of an introduction. My favorite place of Africa, known as the Pearl of Africa is Uganda and that's where the bulk of our clips are going to be coming from today, Uganda. Now, who gave the name the Pearl of Africa to Uganda? Winston Churchill. He said, Winston Churchill said that the scenery is different in Uganda, the vegetation is different, the climate is different and most of all the people are different from anything else where in the world and in also the whole range of Africa. Uganda is a very magical place and it certainly does deserve the name the Pearl of Africa as you can see in this footage. Now, Uganda it certainly does have stunning landscape, beautiful green rolling hills, beautiful rain forest, also it's very well known for whitewater rafting and sport fishing. But it is very important to keep in mind of the various dangers that you might encounter and to be prepared and that's what we hope to do in the various upcoming clips, is to help you become the most prepared that you possibly can be. Of course too, I'm sure that you are aware of in Uganda, it is the best place to see the rare mountain gorilla at Bwindi National Park. It was formally known as Bwindi Impenetrable Forest but it is now since been named Bwindi National Park. So in upcoming clips we'll have a look at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or National Park, how to spot animals and all kinds of other things upcoming in our next clip. We're going to next talk about first aid and medical kit that you might want to take when traveling to Africa.
