The next rule for the position of wide receiver is catching the ball on a deep route. Now running the ball in a deep route, you must know and identify which side the ball is going to come and that is between you and the quarter back, it is going to be over the left shoulder or either the right shoulder. When catching the ball you must look back for the ball. DO NOT look at the defense, the DB, the defensive back because your attention must be on the football when coming over your head. So you want to look up for the football, it is either going to be to your left or even to the right, it could be to the right side of the in grounds of the field or either the left side of the field. So you always most know which shoulder to look up at, keep attention on which way the ball is coming from over the top so you would know catching the ball, bringing it in. It is important that you know that because that could be a deciding touchdown in a game.
