How to Reassemble a Motorcycle Master Cylinder

On behalf of Expert Village my name is Seth Williams. I work for D - K Service and I'm here to tell you about simple street bike brake repair and inspection. Here is our rebuild set. Suzuki genuine parts from Suzuki; they usually take about a week to get. First off you're going to put your plunger in there. Make sure because your working with rubber seal parts that they go in nice and smooth, don't lift, and that they operate smoothly. Make sure you use your hand to make sure these are going to operate smoothly. Once that's done we'll go ahead and rebuild this part of the push rod linkage here. Make sure we get everything in the right order. Here's our new plunger and your lock screw. That?s done, spin your lock nut on a few threads. You don't want to spin it all the way up because it doesn't need to be. This is going to be your adjustment for your brake lever. Once that's on make sure you spin your connecting joint on there. Get your seal up over the nut. Once the rubber is connected to the nut I'm going to go ahead and spin it back so it's not hindering my way of putting this all back together correctly. Once that's done go ahead and get your snap ring out of the way. Make sure that this washer is attached. This is going to go together like so, push your snap ring down in there. Go ahead and push the washer in place. Get your snap ring down in there, use your snap ring pliers. You can see I've got it mostly in the hole now. Use a flat head screwdriver to push that down into its groove. You can hear the audible click of the snap ring inside its groove. Now we're good with the snap ring go ahead and spin the plunger back down into its recess. Take extra care in this step and use a very blunt object so you?re not ripping your seal surfaces. If you rip your seal surfaces you have just hindered everything you've done. Once that's done take our pliers, secure our lock nut on the connecting bracket and it's ready to go back on.
