Right Hand Flamenco Guitar Techniques

Hi I'm Mario Amaya and on behalf of Expert Village in this segment I'm going to talk to you a bit about right hand flamenco playing techniques. First I want to mention that flamenco guitarist usually use a capo such as this which makes the action of the guitar easier and raises the pitch also. So I'm putting on my capo and flamenco guitar right hand techniques are a bit different from classical right hand techniques. One of the most important flamenco right hand guitar technique is the Rasgueado or strumming and there are many different forms of Rasgueado such as this 4 finger Rasgueado. Or one finger, or 3 fingers, or this kind and this is really the technique that distinguishes flamenco guitar the most from classical and other types of guitar playing but also we use the right hand thumb a great deal. And we also use Picado alternating index and middle fingers of the right hand like this. And we do arpeggios, and we use slurs which you may have notice with the left hand a great deal like this. In addition flamenco has it's own form of tremolo a little different from classical guitar tremolo it uses 1 bass note along with 4 treble notes.
