Learn About Hybrid Bicycles

Hi! This is Eric from Spin City Cycling in Austin, Texas. I am talking to you on behalf of Expert Village and today we are going to discuss hybrid bikes. Now hybrids don't really fall into the category of road or mountain bikes. They are kind of a hybrid; kind of in between. The reason you might want to get one of these bikes is if you are someone who does some riding on the streets, maybe some light off road biking like hike and bike trails and that sort of thing. You want a bike that will do a little bit of all of that so a hybrid is a good option for that. Some of the characteristics of a hybrid bike is that they will have tires that are wider than what you will find on a road bike but generally narrow than what you will find on a mountain bike. They may have some tread on them to give you some traction in mulch or loose soil. They may or may not have suspension. Some hybrids have a suspension fork on front to soak up some bumps. So have suspension seat posts to soak up some bumps coming from the rear wheel but again, that may not be the case with every bike out there. They are generally a little lighter than a mountain bike and a little heavier than a road bike. Again, they are not going to be the best at anything but they are sort of a jack of all trades type bike. So hopefully you have learned a little bit about hybrid bikes. Thanks for watching.
