Detecting & Locating a Gas Leak
If you smell a gas leak, it’s imperative that you locate the gas leak and shut off the gas and have it repaired. And it’s very easy to locate the source of a gas leak. Just use some dishwashing liquid and some water - about a half and half mixture - and a brush and just apply it to all of the connections and the hose around your gas line until you see bubbles form. And you will definitely see bubbles foaming out of wherever the source of the leak is. And I would recommend going the full length of the tubing and looking all around to see if you see any bubbles.

And the solution may be as simple as tightening a fitting, but if you locate a gas leak somewhere in the line, then this needs to be replaced and I would recommend shutting the gas off at the valve and calling a plumber.
