Vaulting & Linear Footwork in Fencing

Hi, this is Tim Weske on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip we're going to be showing you a combination of the two footworks system put into one, both the vaulting and the linear footwork. If you would like to see more information on this you could look at swordplayla.com. Basically it's the same sequences, some of the steps are with cuts, some of steps are with cuts and vaulting, some of the steps are cuts and advance retreat or thrusting advance retreat. We will let you watch, Josh and TJ are going to be performing this one. Are you guys set? Okay ready and action! As you can see again you can go linear, you got that nice look. You want to try it again guys, nice and slow, okay. Get the nice look of that linear sword fight, but we are also putting some theatrics in it, would be some turning around types of motions. Now, these things will never work in a real sword fight but that doesn't make any difference because we're doing this for a movie and not for real. One more time gentlemen, thrust, thrust, we've got some cuts in the vault, thrust and a vault, cuts and crossover and then we end. So when you are building your fights and putting these fights together, again working the balance as you can see when you are watching this over and over again you can see how different how the feet are far enough apart, if you're running into problems where you are bouncing or falling off balance which generally is the distance between your feet or the movement your body, it might be doing a hula dance when you are doing it instead of just coming forward and backward. Try to keep it simple, I think less is more.
