How to Restore a Victorian Style Chimney

Hi, I'm Betty Ingham and I'm speaking on behalf of Expert Village. When we moved into this house over 8 years ago someone had just put concrete in the bottom of this fireplace. The mantle was painted many, many colors and so once we stripped out all the paint off and started to rebuild the fireplace we discovered that they had cut the chimneys off upstairs. So what we did we just made it into a natural gas fireplace which we thoroughly enjoyed we made the tile because we potters we made our tile. And again we made it in bold colors with an ornate pattern and by the way I looked up all these pictures and all of the ornate work on the mantles. After I put it back together and that is the north wind in the Victorian days they put the north wind on their mantle facing the north. So hanced the north wind picture is above the mantle.
