I’m Angela on behalf of expertvillage.com, and right now I’m just going to describe to you a way of stretching out your calf, especially for runners this is extremely important because of all the use we get out of this muscle while running. You want to have your feet shoulder width apart. Right now I’m going to use my left but a half step forward. At this point, I’m going to bend my right knee and align it with my left. I’m going to support myself by putting my hands on my hip like this, my posture is still straight. At this point, I’m just going to simply lift my foot up and down slowly. You can immediately feel the stretch in here. You want to do this in a slow pulse so that you don’t strain the muscle, very slowly. You should feel a slight discomfort, but that is merely the muscle stretching and getting warmed up. If you ever feel extreme pain while doing this you want to stop immediately.
