Hi my name is Annalicia Howlett and on behalf of Expert Village.com I’ll be telling you how a person can be exposed to the Hepatitis C virus. Exposure to the Hepatitis C virus occurs when you are exposed to the infected blood of one person to another. This can be anything from blood transfusion to injection drug use to sharing the same tools for smoking crack, smoking meth, snorting lines, getting in fist fights where there are open wounds on hands and faces. Hepatitis C can live outside of the body for up to 3 months on a surface which is kind of a scary thing. A co-infection of hepatitis C and HIV can mess with a treatment and cause both viruses to react more rapidly. You can also be exposed to Hepatitis C through sharing razors or toothbrushes because when you brush your teeth the abrasion can cause blood to get on your toothbrush or if you’re using someone else’s razor there’s little drops of blood that may or may not get on that razor that you can’t see. It’s really important to get tested.
