Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now we'll cut out our watermelon. I'm going to start with the handle section again. I'm going to cut this inside piece. You want to use a nice, thin, and sharp knife and use a short sawing motion. You want to go into the fruit perpendicular to the skin of the fruit. You don't want to go in at an angle. You want to go straight in and out. Use a nice short sawing motion. Remove the pieces as you cut them. Then just work around your design following your marks. Straight in and out. A little bit of a sawing motion. We'll do the scallops. Just work your way around the design. If you have a thicker knife. This thin knife makes the curves very nice and easily. Now, if you have a thicker knife you can do things like the scallops and sections. Let me show you like this. You could cut to here and then take the knife out and do one more cut and do one more cut and then cut to here. Having a nice thin bladed knife makes turning the corners a lot more easy. The last section right here until we meet our handle. You want to be careful when you're cutting that you don't accidentally cut off the parts that you want. It's a little difficult to pull out this whole large section so I'm going to cut in smaller sections being very careful not to cut the part of the design we want. You just pull out the sections of fruit that we don't want. That one came right out. Sometimes you just give it a little wiggle and you pull it right out. That is a beautiful watermelon.
