Choosing A Tail For A Peacock Fruit Centerpiece

Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. Now I'm going to show you how to make the tail feather skewers. We have 7 skewers to make. I'll show you how to make one and the you'll just make them all the same. Now, use any kind of fruit you want, but I'll give you some suggestions here. Pineapple is great because it'll have a nice fan. Oranges are good, kiwis are beautiful. I don't happen to have a kiwi, but they make a nice circle pattern. Let's start with the orange. We'll cut fairly wide sections like this. Then I'm going to quarter them so that we have pieces shaped like this. I've got a little pineapple. You can use a larger pineapple also. I'm going to leave the skin of the pineapple on. I'm just going to cut again just like the oranges a fairly thick circle. Very pretty. This also we will quarter. You'll just quarter all of those. Now let's set up our first skewer. We'll start with some grapes. We'll put on 2 nice long green grapes and just skewer them right on. I think I'll use a purple grape, an orange. Just put it from the tip to the middle. I'm going to slide that down a little bit to save room. Again, the pineapple if you have trouble putting it in, just turn it around. I'm going to screw it on there. Then I want to end with another purple grape like this. We're going to make 7 of these for our peacock.
