The Importance of Sanitation Before Taking a Hepatitis C Test
It is really important to wash your hands before starting because you want to remove any dirt, grease or anything that might just be on your hands that could interfere with the test. I recommend some nice warm water and soap. Antibacterial soap is probably a good idea but if you just have regular soap that is fine too. If you don’t have access to some warm soap or water I suggest taking a damp or dry wash cloth and just rubbing off any dirt or anything that might be on your hands because friction is really the key to removing the germs off of your hands. When you wash your hands you should sing the whole happy birthday song to yourself and that should be plenty of time for you to get everything off. After washing your hands get some dry paper towels or cloth and dry off your hand and make sure your hands are completely dried before you start the test so you are not getting little drips of water on the test to interfere with it.
