How to Get Money to Make an Independent Film

Hello I’m Corey Turner here on ExpertVillage.com and today we’re talking about low budget moving making. Okay we talked about legal and we’ve talked about your script, your script is all together, now the secret to getting it made is money. And unfortunately it’s hard right now in my opinion to get people to buy into movies. We’re selling dreams, but making movies is sexy and if we can get people to buy into the experience, not necessary the financial return, but the experience of making a movie, of having their name on the screen, of getting to go to those post parties that’s going to be sequel. But no one is going to invest in your movie if you don’t have a good budget set up. So right away you need to look at what resources are available to you. How much money do you have? Your friends, your relatives and the other people that you can talk into giving you money, how much money can you pull together? Because believe me right now, at least I did, I can make a movie for $80 and I’ll spend that on tapes on the first weekend. Also how are you going to feed the people when they show up on set? What if they need water? How about paper towels? There’s a lot of things that are going to come up as you’re on set that’s going to require money, so you need to focus and plan on that and have your actors bring their lunches and try to provide lunches for them, a lot of different things to cover.
