Using the Glute Isolator Exercise Machine at the Gym

Hi I’m personal trainer Michael Angelo on behalf of Expert Village. And we’re here at Extreme Fitness in Laurel Springs, New Jersey and I’m going to demonstrate the glute isolator machine. What you want to do with this machine is adjust this pad so it’s up on your chest and you’re in proper position, it’s very important to support your chest. What you want to do is have your heel at the very edge of the pedal down there, you want your hips, your knees and your ankles properly aligned with your chest properly in place to support your back and then you squeeze back. Kick straight back, all the weight on your heel, come back slowly don’t let the weight bottom out and you squeeze in the glutes and the hamstrings in a slow range of motion. Remember you don’t want to do this, this does nothing for you but put your wrist at an injury. Nice slow smooth methodical moments when you get to the very end of a contraction, you want to squeeze the glute muscle and you come back in and go back out. Nice and smooth, your chest never moves off the pad, your lower back never moves and your hips never move. This properly isolates the glute and hamstring muscles through your range of motion and gives you a nice clean safe effective workout and that’s the end. That’s how you properly use a glute isolator machine.
