Chipping & Blue & White China

Talking about historical blue condition is going to play a big factor in the price that you are going to pay for something. Here you can see is a big chip on the corner here. This plate is a really small plate and it is going to affect the value tremendously. Even though the plate if you turn it around is in really nice shape, it has great color, great patina on it and the crazing is just perfect for the time period. But this is going to make a huge difference because it is where you display it. Someone could have put a wire holder on this and that is where a lot of damage occurs with these plates. If you put wire holders and you hang them on the wall, those metal against the porcelain causes breaks like this and sometimes you see plates with 3 corners of the plate itself has chips on it. A lot of times that is where it comes from or just normal use but this is something you really need to look for when you are collecting. On these, here you can also see some chipping on the inside. It is minor but it is there on the inside of the pitcher. On this pitcher, it has a little bit of damage. On the front you can see there is a line that runs through it here. It is a little hard to detect but it is there. Overall the picture is wonderful. It displays really well. The handle is in tact and the bottom is wonderful the way the color runs a little bit and you have a little bit of crazing. It's a great thing you have to take into consideration, those little chips. Those are some of the things to look for when you are trying to decide about condition.
