Another one of the basic skate parks skills that a lot of beginners get really scared with is dropping into a quarter pipe. The main thing to remember is that basically if you are coming into a quarter pipe, is you want to come up along the side of it because if you come straight into a quarter pipe and you drop in, all of a sudden your bike is at a very steep angle and you are more likely to hit your chain ring on the coping which can be little bit of a scare too. If you come along sideways whichever way you prefer to drop in, it is really a personal choice and you pick up your front wheel just a little bit, you drop in and your bike never actually hits that straight up and down feeling and it should really be a lot more comfortable. You want to come up over, put your front wheel in and then you kind of gently hop your back wheel over just so that it clears the coping right here and you don't get any abrupt bump coming in as I'll demonstrate here. Basically once you get up over the top, you want to commit fully because if you don't commit, that is when you are going to get hurt. Come up over the side, pick your front wheel up, put your front wheel right below the coping at the very top of the quarter pipe and once your front wheel touches down, just kind of gently hop your back wheel over just enough so that it clears the coping and you don't get any abrupt jarring as you drop in and look down at the bottom of the quarter pipe and ride right out. Just stay relaxed and keep looking ahead. Don't start looking at your front wheel or anything, that is never good. Just keep looking ahead and ride out 100 percent committed and you have it.
