What is a Theremin?
On behalf of ExpertVillage.com my name is Mark. Why did I get involved with Theremins? I had heard of Theremins but never really gave them a lot of thought until I saw the documentary produced by Steve Martin, Theremin Electronic Musical Odyssey, it was just a marvelous film and I was able to gather quite a bit of tactical information from my background looking for coils I had a pretty good idea of what frequency range the oscillators were in. and when I got home from seeing the documentary, that would have been in ’94, I immediately hopped on the computer and what I find is half a dozen people, they’re all making Theremins and none of them had made any Theremins but they had all talked about it. and I thought well this is something that I should be able to do in 6 months, well a few years later, my first one was available and I shipped it out and people greeted my efforts with skeptism at first but the first person who bought one of mine he did a product review. I didn’t asked him to, he just published what he though of it, he also put some sound clips on the web and a few other people said well that’s not bad, and it took of from there.
