Hi, this is Andrew on behalf of Expert Village.com. In this next clip I am going to be discussing how to determine the amount of thread to use when sewing a button onto polyester particular. Now with polyester the fabric itself tends to be a little bit thicker than standard cotton garments but not as thick as wool or other garments like sweaters and jackets. But because it is a bit thicker than cotton what you want to do is use approximately twice as much of the thread that you would use with a cotton garment to sew on a button. Now of course this varies based upon the button you choose to use but typically you would want to take off enough thread to sew on a cotton bottom and just simply double that. And once you have this amount of thread, you are ready to thread up a needle and get started sewing on a button.
