Sanding & Cleaning a Door when Remodeling

Hi, I’m Grady Johnson representing Expert Village.com. Now even though this looks a little rough, we are not actually painting the door jam. So we don’t really want to do anything with that. We are just going to scrub these down a little bit without hitting the jam. It will eat up the grain but it is perfect for metal stuff. One of the things we need to check before we go any further is to make sure that this thing does actually close correctly but you see now that it does. No more sticking. The next thing we want to do is sand down the door. Put this paper together and I cut that in half. I only use a half a sheet. I fold this together in thirds. Now I have a piece of sand paper to sand my door with. I just want to buff all this down and getting primed. Remember when you are sanding wood, always go with the grain and we are going to get the heel and that will wrap it up. So we are going to dust it off All right, we are going to clean up this mess real quick. There is quite a mess. There’s a little that came over but not too bad. We fold it like this and we can just haul this out of here right a way. This simple stuff.
