How & Why to Have Rhythm in Football
Hi this is Tim Gardener on ExpertVillage.com; we’re going to be going over some advanced techniques in football. Okay in football, everything is about having a rhythm, okay? When you’re going to come out of a break, out of a back peddle and you’re about to change directions, you don’t want a lot of steps what we call bucket steps. You’re wasting a lot of energy, you’re wasting a lot of time, and you always want your transition to be quick, which is why we’re telling you to drag your feet across the top of the turf or the grass. Now when you’re ready to make that change, you’ve got to stick your foot and lean that way and drive with the other and you’ve got to be gone. Everything should be one-two, when you’re changing direction, if I’m changing to come straight back to the ball, I’m here one-two and I’m moving. If I’m changing direction and I’m going in a 90 degree angle left or right, it’s got to be one-two as well, it’s got to be here, one-two, and I’m gone. Same thing in a 45 degree angle, I’m coming back here to here, I’ve got to be here, one-two, and I’ve got to be gone. No matter what situation you’re in, you’ve got to be able to get that one-two rhythm. And you keep your feet close to the ground, one-two.
