How to Hold the Football When Running
Hi this is Tim Gardener on ExpertVillage.com; we’re going to be going over some advanced techniques in football. Okay we’re going to be talking about ball positioning when you’re carrying. There are 4 major factors you need to remember when you’re talking about carrying the ball in open field or any area of the football field. The first thing is that if you’re in open field and you’re running is you do want to grip the ball with your hand, you do want it resting on your forearm, but you don’t want to have it out here, we call this holding it like a loaf of bread. It’s easy to knock out someone could come up from behind or in front and knock that out. You want to press it against your body so that you create a trap between your body and your arm so that anyway you hit it the ball can’t pop out. The next thing you want to remember is that whenever you’re going through a heavy area of traffic, that sometimes – all the time a good idea to have the ball like this. maybe you’re coming through the hole, you’ve just received the ball and there’s a lot of traffic there, you want to wrap the ball here it creates a complete blanket for the ball, you’ve got your whole body behind it, you’ve got both of your forearms wrapped here and a tight grip with your hands, there’s no way anybody is getting that out and if you fall you’re falling right on it and the ball isn’t going anywhere.
