Defensive Communication in Basketball

A lot of things that don't get talked about in the game of basketball are defensive communication. Now what I mean by that is being able to communicate with your teammates, letting them know if there's a back screen, letting them know if there's a lane open. Always being vocal, seeing the court, letting your teammates know what's going on, an important part of defensive communication essential to winning championships. Next we want to talk about moving without the ball. It's an important part of the basketball game, because everyone can't have the ball at one time. One ball five players on each side. So it's essential for players to know how to move when they don't have the ball. Now this involves fighting through picks, setting screens, filling lanes on a fast break, etc, etc. Actually two points to remember when moving without the ball is the jab step. You always want to be again in that 3 point stance, jab stepping and then going to the opposite way. Let's say you want to move right, jab step left and then cut right always throwing your defender a little bit off. Fighting through the screens is a whole different story, but always remember fight through the screen.
